Grilled, aromatic spice-braised tempeh glazed with kecap manis 

Terong Balado
Lightly fried eggplant with spicy garlic tomato fresno chili sauce

Gulai Nangka
Young jackfruit cooked in a coconut yellow curry with long beans and chayote

Daun Ubi Tumbuk
Creamy coconut lemongrass curry with pounded cassava leaves and green eggplants 

Rendang Jamur
Slow-cooked oyster mushrooms and baby golden potatoes in a rich spiced rendang (dried curried) sauce 

Semur Tahu
Tofu simmered in a savory-sweet palm sugar and soy-based broth

Chef Feny of Wajan
Feny is the chef and owner of Wajan and Pasar in Portland, Oregon. Born in Jakarta, Indonesia, she moved to the United States to study music before discovering her true calling through food — a way to remain connected to home. Self-taught and guided by family recipes, her culinary journey began in 2011 with a small food cart serving the Indonesian dishes she grew up with.

In 2019, she opened Wajan, rooted in traditional staples from Jakarta, Sumatra, and Java, earning recognition as one of Portland’s 50 Best Restaurants. In 2023, she opened Pasar, a playful expression of Indonesian snacks, traditional sweets, and her Chinese Indonesian heritage through a modern lens. Pasar was recognized locally as one of Portland’s 40 Best Restaurants and nationally — named one of The New York Times’ 25 Best Restaurants in Portland and honored by Bon Appétit as one of the Best New Restaurants in America, also receiving a Best Dessert Program distinction.

Guided by memory, shaped by experience, and grounded in tradition, her cuisine is bold in spice and deliberate in flavor. Each dish is a return home — honoring the warmth, ritual, and rich diversity of the Indonesian archipelago.
